WHERE TO INSTALL MY GAS DETECTOR LL157

Natural gas is lighter than air and tends to rise, so detectors should be installed higher up on the wall or near the ceiling.

Install the Detector in the Same Room as the Fuel-Gas Burning Appliance

  1. Mounting Location:
    • Ceiling: Since natural gas is lighter than air, it tends to rise. Installing the detector on the ceiling ensures that any leaking gas is detected as soon as it accumulates near the ceiling. The gas detector should be placed at a horizontal distance of at least 3 feet but no more than 10 feet from the fuel-gas burning appliance

    • Wall: If ceiling installation is not possible, the detector can be mounted on a wall. In this case, it should be placed high on the wall, close to the ceiling not more than 12 inches from the ceiling to detect rising gas. The gas detector should be placed at a horizontal distance of at least 3 feet but no more than 10 feet from the fuel-gas burning appliance
